Sabine Döring

Former State Secretary and Professor of Practical Philosophy

Sabine Döring, Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Tübingen, is State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) of the Federal Republic of Germany. Döring obtained her PhD in 1997 from Georg-August University of Göttingen and graduated in 2005 from the University of Duisburg-Essen. She has directed the Philosophy Department at the University of Tübingen since 2008 and was a member of the Board of the Werner Reichardt Center for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN). Her research is focused on the philosophy of feelings and the theory of rationality. She underlines the role of emotions as necessary affective evaluations for rational thought. She received the Opus Magnum scholarship from VW Foundation for her research on political liberalism and the book project Freely Acting in Solidarity. A Liberal Theory of the Common Good
